Eye care centers are in place to specialize in anything that has to do with your eyes and eyesight. This means that someone looking to get optical surgery can go to the same place they would go to get new glasses. This not only saves you from having to take multiple trips to different places, but also allows you to build a lasting relationship with your trusted eye care doctor. These centers can provide people with optical plans, new glasses, new contacts, specific contact programs, laser eye surgery, and many other treatments of eye related problems.

The main factor in keeping your eyes in the best condition possible is to routinely get an eye exam. This is to make sure you can see properly, and to make sure that you do not have one of the many serious vision conditions that are out there. If you already wear glasses or contacts, it is important to have the proper prescription of eye wear in order to prevent your eyes from getting worse each year. Eye care centers also offer something for everyone in your family. They have specialist that can treat kids and adults of all ages. This is important if you have a child that is going to try and wear contacts, which isn’t something that comes naturally. With contact programs for kids in place it will make it easy for a child of any age to make the transition from glasses to contacts. If you are an adult, and have been wearing eye wear for many years, your physician will be able to treat you on that basis and can help protect your eyes from getting any worse.

Emergency care is also provided at eye care centers. If you have an accident that hurts one of your eyes seriously, it is important to get rushed for immediate help because it could be the difference in having eye sight at all. Eyes are a very sensitive part of the body that needs to be taken care of in the event of serious injury. Time is a very important factor with any serious optical injury which is why most eye care centers offer special emergency services. People also like the fact that their trusted and established doctor can also help them in times of emergency instead of going to a new doctor for serious injuries, making it a one stop eye care center.

Almost everyone does his best to keep fit and healthy, including cholesterol reduction, drinking less and exercising the body does. But people who take good care of their eyes are not as numerous as those who take care of their body. Many people have eye problems that do not care for their eyes.

The eyes are a part of our body. Influence the body and are influenced by the body at the same time. Therefore, diseases of the body can cause eye problems. People who suffer from problems related to diabetes and smoking are much more likely to lose sight, such as smoking and other diseases resulting in damage of blood vessels behind the eyes.

Many computer professionals from us spends lots of time in front of the computer every day it comes to no surprise that research is showing a rise in visual problems. What can one do? First, it’s important to find out how you can protect your eyes through eye health exams and by making a few minor changes in your computer viewing habits.

Eye Care Tips.

Positioning.
Correct positioning of your computer, keyboard and typing copy is essential. Your screen should be positioned about an arm’s length from your eyes and 20 degrees below eye level. Consider foot and wrist rests for added comfort.

Lighting.
Room lighting should be diffuse, not direct, to reduce glare and reflections from your screen. Look into an internal or external glare screen and be sure to set your colour, contrast and brightness levels to suit you.

Glasses.
Anti-reflective coatings on the lenses of your glasses can be applied by your optometrist to reduce discomfort and to ease reduced vision from bright and/or flickering light sources such as VDTs and fluorescent lights. And don’t forget, your doctor of optometry can talk to you about eyeglasses designed specifically for people who use computers a lot.

LASIK surgery is a laser vision correction procedure approved for the treatment of nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and in some cases, presbyopia correction. Before making your decision, learn about the LASIK procedure, its benefits, and its risks, and discuss any questions you have with your doctor. It can treat both myopia and hyperopia with or without astigmatism.

The surgery is worthwhile for anyone who is unhappy wearing glasses or contact lenses. The surgery is best suited for healthy patients who are at least 18 years of age. The surgery may now also be an option for presbyopia correction; the surgery can correct one eye for distance vision and the other eye for close vision in a procedure known as Monovision.

At the vision correction centers, surgery begins after the patient is made comfortable with numbing anesthetic eye drops. The surgery itself is virtually painless, and results can be seen immediately. Those who found out about LASIK eye surgery open their once blurry eyes and are instantly able to see the alarm clock and the beautiful morning – no glasses and no contacts.

It’s important to be aware that the surgery is not a guarantee of perfect vision, and some patients may require additional surgery to further enhance their vision. And there may be complications. We don’t know the long-term effects of the surgery. However, the vast majority of patients who have undergone laser eye surgery are happy with the results. In addition to general ophthalmology care and regular eye exams, eye surgeons usually offer their patients the latest vision correction procedures, including LASIK, Custom LASIK, PRK, Intacs for Keratoconus, and Cataract Surgery.

LASIK eye surgery, or Laser assisted in-situ keratomileusis, has changed the way millions of Americans have viewed the world for several years now. Before making your decision, learn all you can about the procedure, its benefits, and its risks, and the cost of laser eye surgery. Discuss any questions you have with your eye doctor or laser vision surgeon.
